Driving

I love to drive. I truly love driving long distances. I listen to my music and clear my head and spend time with my thoughts gernerally oblivious to all else, content in my world and paying attention only to that to which I need to pay attention while driving. I rarely have driving problems. This week, something went wrong. I drove 4 hours one way, did what I needed to do, and drove 4 hours back. I was 5 minutes from home and stopped at a red light when I decided to check to see if I had any texts or emails from the past 4 hours. The light turned green and I continued to read an important email while driving 15mph then WHAM blue lights were behind me. I never text when driving. The only time I ever look at my phone is at a red light or when following Maps. And yet here I was being pulled over. And I am actually glad they are ticketing people for texting and driving, but so irritated that it was me - the person that is constantly pointing out the texting while driving drivers to my kids. THEN... The very next day I was turning right at a stop light on to a busy street. The light turned red so I started to go, but realized a car was running the red light so I stopped. The car behind me did not see what I saw and when I started to go, so did she. When I stopped, she hit me. Fortunately there was no damage to our cars and we both agreed to drive away. She seemed somewhat crazy so I was happy to get away ASAP. I am also happy that both incidences were not that big a deal, but ready to go back to my blissful, enjoyable driving experiences and to skip the drama PLEASE.
